When I started painting Bohemian Blooms," I decided to limit my palette to blues and oranges, with a few strokes of yellow thrown in during the last strokes. I'm thrilled with the way these complementary colors seem to bounce off each other and lead the eye around the painting.
I most often paint on canvases, but for several of this series, I chose to paint on watercolor paper because the smoother surface was a nice change of pace. I love seeing the canvas peek through the paint, but sometimes it's nice just to have a flatter surface!
